The world is run by people who put their heads down and get the hard stuff done right. If you're in payroll, you get it. You're probably not getting all the accolades at the company picnic, but behind the curtain you're pulling off a monumental feat every pay run.
Payroll is a real nail-biter, with the threat of errors that can cost employers big in non-compliance fines, broken business continuity, and even brand damage. As companies scale, they often take on higher payroll volumes with more employees, locations, and employee categories. The complexity and risk keep escalating – as does the stress.
Our answer to this near-universal challenge is to transform the pay run management experience to help dial down the risk and create simplicity at scale for organisations. Here's how we're doing it.
“Our workforce is diverse. They come from 90 different cultural backgrounds. They are salaried and non-salaried, unionised and non-unionised. What we’re really looking to do is know that we’re accurately and compliantly paying our people – every time we pay them […] Once we saw the pitch from Dayforce, it was crystal clear that they were the right choice for us.”
-Stacey Brewer, VP HR Operations, Orica*

How it works
Simplicity from the start
We worked directly with our customers’ payroll teams to rethink the information users see when opening our new Pay Run Dashboard. The smoother, more visually appealing design includes simple widgets that present your payroll admins with the most important details first. From there, you can click on a widget to drill down into a specific area like earnings variance, deductions variance, or calculation statuses. We’ve also categorised problems, errors, and warnings by root cause to help you identify and resolve issues more efficiently.
With additional enhancements impacting Pay Run Overview, Data Entry, Preview, Issues, and Reporting, you can expect to encounter new user flows and simplified screens. Put it all together, and you have a new world of convenient, pre-built workflows to help you operate with confidence and show quantifiable value to your company.
Stay on top of what matters
Our new pay run experience focuses on payroll data variances so you can easily see how your current pay period compares to a previous run. This allows you to better troubleshoot payroll issues before they become paycheck issues. These widgets and their built-in workflows are designed to mimic some of the most common audits you might currently be running in spreadsheets or across multiple systems. Doing this inside the Dayforce AI-powered people platform helps save you time and effort that you can spend on strategic payroll analysis to empower your company to make better decisions.
“When we decided to go with the Dayforce team and product, it was because we knew they had experience in the industry. We knew that they had the breadth and the scope to help us in all the locations and in all the different verticals that we operate in.”
- Tom Walker, CFO, Dallas Cowboys**
Our redesigned Pay Run Dashboard provides a clear way to help you stay on top of payroll considerations for terminated employees. You likely have a specific audit or series of audits for terminated employees to make sure termination pay is accurate, and that payroll elections and deductions end appropriately. Our new Pay Run Dashboard clearly shows you the specific number of employees meeting these audit criteria and allows you to easily click down to view the list of affected employees. Our customers tell us this enhancement can save payroll users significant time and mental bandwidth, helping them operate with confidence even as their company scales.
More horsepower for your payroll calculation engine
As your company adds more employees across more employment categories and geographical areas, it makes sense that your payroll calculation engine will slow down. But that’s why we’ve doubled down on scaling our continuous calculation engine to boost performance in even the world's largest, most complex companies. With this enhancement, you can help reduce the time to calculate pay events by up to 40%*** while helping reduce payroll processing and commit timeouts. No matter how big or complicated your payroll environment, this newly scaled engine can help you cut down the time it takes to calculate and commit your payroll.
Moving forward
Better payroll accuracy with less effort and greater peace of mind – that’s what our customers asked for with our reimagined pay run management experience. The result? More time for your payroll team to do the work they're meant to do – analysing and consulting on critical business areas like compliance management, labour spend, employee experience, and even workforce planning. Today’s employers badly need their payroll teams to offer more strategic input on the organisation's most important decisions. Our customers are using our reimagined pay run management experience not only to help conquer the growing payroll complexity crisis, but also to enter the next stage of evolution in the payroll profession.
