Recently, our Ceridian team in the UK invited the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) to assess our payroll processes. After thorough examination, we received the CIPP Payroll Assurance Scheme accreditation. Here to talk about this significant achievement is Ceridian’s Director of Managed Operations (EMEA), Brian Sparling.

What is the CIPP Payroll Assurance Scheme (PAS)?

Brian: The PAS is the only voluntary accreditation on the market in the UK developed with HMRC (HM Revenue and Customs). It is designed to identify risks to a business arising from skills gaps or inadequate processes. It is the prestigious gold standard for both people and payroll processes and is a highly coveted award in the payroll industry.

What was the accreditation process like?

Brian: There was an extensive 20-page pre-assessment questionnaire that required completion, covering core payroll processes, payroll software, our outsourced provisions, and data security and risk management processes. It was a detailed deep dive into all payroll processes, including year-end processing and people processes.

There was then a full day assessment with a qualified PAS assessor from the CIPP to evaluate and review the processes in place and score these against an agreed benchmark with evidence produced.

This report is then peer reviewed to ensure consistency and countersigned before results are issued.

What is the significance of earning a CIPP PAS accreditation?

Brian: It means that any of our customers have the assurance that all our processes have been independently audited and reviewed. By opting to engage in PAS, which is a best practice tool and voluntary assessment, they know our dedication to compliance and to helping mitigate the risk of compliance failures.

How will this CIPP PAS accreditation impact your work going forward?

Brian: This accreditation offers clear evidence to our customers and prospects that Ceridian’s commitment to compliance is key. It allows us to demonstrate that we have fully audited people and payroll processes which ultimately mean accurate and timely payrolls for our customers.

This will help Ceridian further build trust with customers as they have another external benchmark against which to measure our services.
