Giving back: Stories from 2025 Global Volunteer Month
Community has always been the heart of Dayforce culture. We got the scoop from Daymakers on their volunteer experience in their local communities during our annual Global Volunteer Month.

Dayforce celebrated Global Volunteer Month (GVM) in April, a 30-day initiative during that helps our people make a meaningful impact in local communities around the world. We believe in “giving where we’re living” and Global Volunteer Month is a great opportunity to take our community involvement a step further.
At Dayforce, we believe flexibility makes work life better, and we’ve made that part of Global Volunteer Month. Daymakers had the option of in-person or virtual opportunities, either as part of a group or solo. With over 80 Dayforce-organized activities and numerous community-driven events, there were ample opportunities for everyone to get involved.
More than 2,700 Daymakers across five continents had contributed over 16,000 hours of volunteer service by the end of April—that’s 60% more hours than last year. Together, we supported 300 important causes throughout the month.
So, how do our people feel about their experience volunteering? We asked Daymakers around the world what they took away from participating in Global Volunteer Month activities. Here are their stories.
GVM Activity: Environmental Awareness Session for Children
Jhana Bunag from Manila, Philippines
“This experience was deeply personal. I know firsthand how incredibly challenging it is to raise a child with special needs —I’ve learned that when we see children who are different, we shouldn’t judge —we should lead with kindness, empathy, and support. Sometimes, the most meaningful thing we can do is simply show up with compassion and an open heart.”
GVM Activity: Clean Up
Kristie Tiong from Singapore
"It was incredibly rewarding to step away from our desks and come together as a team to make a tangible impact. My favorite part was seeing how even small actions, like picking up trash, can contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable Singapore. It reminded me that giving back doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful."
GVM Activity: Supporting Families Fighting Childhood Cancer
Beverly Horner-Reynolds from Houston, Texas
“My favorite part of this month’s volunteer efforts was serving as a floater at the St. Jude Houston Gala alongside fellow Daymaker, Afua Giles. While I was honored to support several initiatives throughout Volunteer Month—including wildlife conservation through Zooniverse, cleaning up our local beaches, and volunteering for the 10th time at the Art Car 5K IPA event—being part of an event that directly supports families fighting childhood cancer was incredibly meaningful. Knowing that St. Jude never sends a bill to families for treatment, travel, housing, or food reminded me of the powerful impact collective giving and support can have.”
GVM Activity: Donation Drive, Hygiene Kit Packing, and On-Site Gardening Day
Marva Smart from Toronto, Canada
“Volunteering for Street Haven Women's Shelter in Toronto gave me an opportunity to see how great the needs are in our community. I loved that we were able to welcome a spokesperson from the shelter to our Toronto office and learn about the work they do for women in need. The time spent was a great way to do something meaningful and connect with others in the spirit of giving back to our community.”
GVM Activity: Water Canal Clean Up
Mariana Vagos from Copenhagen, Denmark
“Volunteering with my colleagues on the GoBoat cleanup reminded me how small actions can create real impact. Being out on the water together, working toward something meaningful, made me feel genuinely connected —not just to the city, but to the people I work with. It was one of those moments that fills you with pride and purpose.”
Carla Vieria from Copenhagen, Denmark
"With the encouragement from Dayforce, our volunteering day in Copenhagen went beyond cleaning the canals —it sparked a shared sense of purpose and reminded us how powerful it is to give back. It brought us closer as a team and showed that even small actions can create a big impact, from the inside out."
Andrew Mina from Copenhagen, Denmark
“One of my favourite aspects of volunteering is the bringing together of Daymakers from various departments and making an impact as one team. Thinking back on the experience, what has remained is the joy of serving, knowledge of the impact made, and appetite do more. Volunteering is a great way to use your skills and talents—and to discover those of your fellow Daymakers—that may not show up in your everyday work life.”
Thank you to all of our Daymakers who participated in Global Volunteer Month!
