At Ceridian, we’re committed to make work life better for our customers and their employees. That’s why we’re so excited that Harris Farm Markets has been recognised in the HRD Innovative HR Teams 2021 report. This recognition highlights how this family-owned grocer leveraged Dayforce, Ceridian’s comprehensive cloud platform, to modernise its time and pay systems to achieve real-time insights and increase employee retention.

With a strong focus on family and community, Harris Farm Markets has been in business for over 50 years and has more than 2,800 employees across New South Wales and Queensland. In August 2020, they implemented Dayforce for end-to-end HCM capabilities across their employee lifecycle. Since then, they have experienced high adoption rates with about 1,200 staff using the mobile app each day. This self-service and digital-first approach has helped them increase employee retention. In fact, despite operating in a high turnover industry, since implementing Dayforce, turnover rates have dropped by 20%.

According to Nichol Trueman, Head of People and Culture at Harris Farm Markets, “Retaining top talent in the retail industry is always a challenge, and this became even more difficult during a period of tremendous growth. We needed to evolve from manual and disparate workforce management processes to deliver a top-quality employee experience, and to stay ahead of complex and evolving labour laws.”

Nichol goes on to say, “We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition for our forward-thinking and data-driven approach to managing our people, and HR operations.”

More than ever before, leaders require comprehensive and accurate workforce data to drive actionable change. With a unified solution for time and pay, Harris Farm Markets now benefits from a single source of data truth, to help them stay ahead of complex and evolving local labour laws.

Using Dayforce, Harris Farm Markets has also achieved increased efficiencies by ensuring the right people are working in the stores at the right time — improving overtime management and their bottom line. The grocer anticipates the ROI from implementing Dayforce could be as much as $2 million in terms of wage costs.

At Ceridian, we are dedicated to delivering intelligent solutions to address our customers’ most complex challenges. We know that there are constant changes to legislation that impact payroll, and that employees have high expectations of their employers to be modern, mobile and forward-thinking. We are committed to helping our customers navigate the future of work today, and well into the future.

That’s why we couldn’t be more thrilled to see the successes of our customers come to life. Congratulations to Harris Farm Markets on this recognition.
