Students from Across Canada Compete in Dayforce Coding Challenge

Published on Tuesday, May 04, 2010
May 4th, 2010 - Dayforce, the workforce management company widely recognized as an innovation and usability leader, hosted the first annual Dayforce Coding Challenge on April 29th, 2010 at the Canadian Undergraduate Technology Conference (CUTC) at the Ted Rogers School of Management in Toronto, Ontario.
Dayforce’s decision to partner with the CUTC to host the Dayforce Coding Challenge was based on a natural fit with the students and ideas gathered at the conference. David Ossip, Dayforce President and CEO, commented, “Dayforce strongly believes in the importance of co-op students and new graduates to entrepreneurship in Canada. In many cases, conferences like the CUTC connect the people and ideas required to create a new venture.”
More than fifty students competed in the challenge for cash and prizes. They were presented with a set of thirty questions, ranging in scope, difficulty and topic. Challengers competed individually and in teams, and as the questions were completed, students were able to view their standings on a live scoreboard.
As the 90-minute challenge concluded, four teams stood at the top of the leaderboard. Dayforce would like to congratulate the following students for their commendable performance in the Dayforce Coding Challenge:
1st Place ($2,500) – Ben Ouyang, Darren Vass, Noel Quiaoit, Philip Chen, Saksham Uppal, Satyam Merja
2nd Place ($1,500) – Juan Celis, Muhammad Altaf, Muhammad Huzaifa, Usama Haq
3rd Place ($750) – David Hu, Jamie Wong
